Blink and you’ll miss it, new elevated offers on IHG credit cards (5)

IHG is offering bumped-up bonuses with shooting star qualities. If you don’t act fast, you’ll miss these shining opportunities to earn free nights or a bundle of points. Both of the enhanced welcome offers are available starting July 11, 2024, but these offers disappear after Sept. 4, 2024.

Here’s the breakdown of the card offers:

The $99-annual-fee IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card*The information for the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer. now has a welcome bonus of five Free Nights (up to 300,000 total bonus points) after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. In total, those five nights are valued at up to 60,000 IHG One Rewards points each night, meaning those who meet the spending requirement could earn hotel stays worth up to 300,000 points.

The no-annual-fee IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card*The information for the IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. New cardholders can earn 100,000 points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first three months of account opening.

The welcome bonus on the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card is enough for two people to spend five nights over Thanksgiving week in 2024 at the all-inclusive Iberostar Beachfront Resorts Iberostar Costa Dorada. With all meals included, this could provide tremendous value for your points.

Should you get one of these cards?

The cards have more to offer than just the welcome bonus. The IHG One Rewards Premier card earns 10 points per $1 at IHG Hotels and Resorts, another 10 points per $1 as an IHG One Rewards member, 6 points per $1 from IHG with Platinum Elite Status (a benefit of this card), 5 points per $1 on travel, dining and gas stations and 3 points per $1 on all other purchases. It also offers a free anniversary night each account anniversary year worth up to 40,000 points, automatic Platinum Elite status and a $100 statement credit and 10,000 bonus points after spending $20,000 each calendar year. Plus, get a Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS statement credit of up to $100 every four years as reimbursem*nt for the application fee and up to $50 United Airlines TravelBank Cash each year.

The IHG One Rewards Traveler card earns 10 points per $1 spent from IHG for being an IHG One Rewards member, 5 points per $1 spent at IHG Hotels and Resorts with the card, plus 2 points per $1 spent from IHG with Silver Elite Status (a benefit of this card), 3 points per $1 spent at gas stations, on utilities; internet, cable, and phone services; select streaming services and restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery and 2 points per $1 on all other purchases. It also offers automatic Silver Elite status with the ability to spend your way to Gold if you spend $20,000 or more in a calendar year.

Both cards carry no foreign transaction fees, offer travel and purchase protections and the ability to get the fourth night free when you redeem points for a consecutive four-night stay with an IHG property. Notably, this is better than both Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors, whose rewards programs each offer a fifth night free when booking stays of five nights or more.

The welcome offers available are only an option if you don’t currently have an IHG One Rewards Credit Card. Additionally, you aren’t eligible for the offer if you’ve received a new IHG One Rewards cardmember bonus in the last 24 months. But anyone with an IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card*The information for the IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card has been collected independently by Blueprint. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer. product may still be eligible to receive the welcome offers available for these personal cards.

Final verdict

The two IHG One Rewards cards are currently offering increased welcome bonuses at a significantly higher rate than the previous bonus opportunity. The IHG portfolio is vast with over 19 hotel brands and 6,000 locations. Properties range from budget-minded Holiday Inns to luxury Six Senses resorts. If you’re looking for an opportunity to score a pile of points to put towards a trip, these two new card offers are as generous as it gets, but the extremely limited-time nature of them means they’ll be gone in a flash.
